Probus Club Visits Baitul Muqeet

Twenty five members of Probus Club of St Johns, Remuera visited the Mosque on 14th April, 2015. Probus Club members are generally retired ex-Rotarians who appreciate and value opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances and of a similar level of interest.

The visitors were welcomed at the lobby on their arrival at 1.45pm and taken to the Men’ prayer hall where Maulana Shafiq-ur-Rehman explained to them the basic architectural features of a mosque. This was followed by a lively Q & A session as the visitors were keen to learn more about Islam and practices of ablution and of prayer, etc.

Refreshments were served in the Old Hall, after which Maulana sahib did a short formal PowerPoint presentation, which generated further Q & A.

The Club organiser, Neil Perkins wrote: “On behalf of the St Johns Remuera Probus Club I wish to thank you very sincerely for inviting us to visit your Mosque yesterday afternoon.

Without exception every one of us present learned so much from your most informative talk and tour of your Mosque. Very sadly time passed too quickly, I am sure we would have so  much more learn from you which throws an enormous  amount  of knowledge and understanding on your beliefs

Your history of the Islamic faith and culture going back to its beginning up until present day leaves much to inspire us.

Like you we all hold the modern day news media responsible for fuelling unrest –If only they could see the true light

Again our very sincere appreciation”.

They also had an opportunity to see the Qur’an exhibition and the Book display in the hall, before departing around 4pm.
