A Symbol of Peace - Mosque Opens Its Doors to Public

A mosque is a symbol of peace and a means of bringing people together. Keeping in view of Islam’s true teachings, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community New Zealand is once again inviting the general public to their Baitul Muqeet Mosque on Saturday 18th October 2014. This is the distinction Ahmadiyya mosques hold around the world and their new mosque at Wiri, the largest purpose-built mosque in New Zealand, is no different  to opening its doors for public viewing on 18th October 2014 from 10am to 4pm. Guests will enjoy guided tour through the mosque ending with complimentary refreshments.

The National President of the Community, Mr. Mohammed Iqbal said “The Ahmadiyya Community, a divinely established revival movement within Islam, embodies the true peaceful teachings of the Muslim faith. It is unfortunate that in today’s world, Islam has been much maligned and defamed due to the hateful acts of so-called Muslims in certain parts of the world. To condemn all forms of terrorism and extremism, which in reality are entirely opposed to Islam’s true teachings, the Ahmadi mosques are always in the lead.”

The worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community holds another distinction that it is united at the hand of one spiritual leader; the Khalifa. The Ahmadiyya Khilafat is a divinely guided spiritual leadership which is contrary to the Khilafat claimed by ISIS in the name of Islam to serve their political and ulterior agenda through inhumane and unjust killing. The Khalifa of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is acknowledged worldwide as a ‘man of peace’. He is always in the forefront to condemn categorically the heinous acts of terrorist groups.

The present Khalifa, the Spiritual Leader and Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad in his public address at the opening of a mosque in Ireland said: “I say without any hesitation, that there are many so-called Muslims who are perpetrating the very greatest evils in the name of Islam. However, I should also make it clear that such reprehensible conduct by Muslim groups or governments does not in any shape or form reflect Islam’s true teachings.”

Assuring the world of the true peaceful teachings of Islam, his Holiness said:

“The Islam that I follow and believe in, is neither cruel nor vengeful and nor does it advocate any form of violence, oppression or injustice. And nor was the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent to spread cruelty or hatred. Rather, he was sent only as a fountain of mercy, flowing with everlasting and universal compassion for mankind.”

In one of his weekly Friday Sermons, the true Khalifa of Islam said: “Every Ahmadi Muslim knows that it is his or her duty to protect all religions and to show love and loyalty to the country in which they reside. These are the true teachings of the Quran.”

For all those who may have any apprehensions before visiting our mosque should just dispel them. In the words of the true Khalifa: “All of our Mosques are centres of peace and harmony, where those who seek to unite mankind through love, join together to promote mutual harmony, to worship, and to pray for the peace, safety and well-being of all of mankind.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in Punjab, India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 202 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. The New Zealand branch of this community was established in 1987 and has just over 400 members. It is a registered charitable organisation and endeavours to be an active and integrated community within New Zealand society.
