Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (alaihi salaam)
The Promised Messiah & Mahdi (1835 - 1908)

Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah, Mahdi and Reformer of the Age, was born on Friday 13th February 1835 at Qadian, India. His education amounted to elementary knowledge of Urdu, Persian and Arabic. During his early youth, he became aware of the hostile attacks by non-muslims on the teachings of Islam and was much perturbed to watch them pass by unchallenged. He undertook a vindication and exposition of Islam in his epoch-making Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya. This book refuted the allegations levied at Islam and furnished powerful arguments to display the countless beauties of Islam.

In 1889, he was commanded by Allah to raise a party of his sincere followers  and initiate them through formal Bai'at. The first initiation took place on 23rd March 1889 at Ludhiana which heralded the birth of Ahmadiyyat in Islam.

In 1891, he claimed that he was the Mahdi and Messiah of the latter days as foretold by the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him). During his lifetime, he wrote about 80 books, mostly in Urdu but some in Arabic and Persian, all glorifying Islam, the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him). He passed away on 26th May 1908 at Lahore and was buried in Qadian.
