Overview of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at New Zealand Inc.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at was formerly established in New Zealand in 1987 as duly incorporated society and a registered charitable organisation dedicated to providing assistance to the moral, spiritual and academic development of New Zealanders.
Dr. Mohammed Shorab is the National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at in New Zealand, spearheading the progress and well-being of over 220 members. The community has wide ethnic mix of immigrant population mainly from Fiji, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and a growing number of 2nd and 3rd generation Kiwis.
Although a small community, our involvement in providing assistance in the areas of charitable work far exceeds the small number of our community and by the Grace of The Almighty, we have supported other charitable organisations in either cash or kind. Most notable has been our regular contribution of blood to the New Zealand Blood Society, food parcels to Auckland City Mission and Salvation Army. We have contributed to the relief efforts for earthquake victims of Iran, the tsunami victims of the Indian sub-continent and of late, the earthquake victims of Pakistan and India. Most of these efforts were via our own Humanity First International Charity based in United Kingdom.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at New Zealand works closely with Humanity First in contributing to the various humanitarian projects around the globe. The community hopes to launch Humanity First New Zealand, an affiliate trust formed to support and further extend the reach of the main body of Humanity First International.
